The Hawaii State Science Olympiad 2013 commences this Saturday with the Maui Regional Tournament. Dedicated to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science by both students and teachers, HSSO has grown to serve more than 70 teams representing 65 different public, private, charter and home schools in Hawaii. UH Maui will be hosting the 2013 HSSO Olympiad, where middle school and high school students can compete one or all of the following categories: Life, Personal, Social Science; Earth & Space Science; Physical Science & Chemistry; Technology & Engineering; and Inquiry & Nature of Science.
